Hello! I am Laura; Woman, Mother, Adventurer and Hypnotherapist.

Laura Chapman

I spent a long time working in a profession I no longer cared for, wasting time on things that I didn't want to do. I think we've all been there! I have always really loved helping others achieve their goals and be authentically themselves, so after some soul searching (via failures, choices, learnings, and qualifications!), I finally found the best job in the world!

In my spare time, I love hiking, weight lifting and dancing to old-school house music or 80's power ballads. Also, Meatloaf. Just saying. I love my family and friends, and connections are really important to me! I also have three children, so I really understand the joys* of parenting. Ohhhh, also, 2022 has seen me become a Scout Leader! I am part of the Squirrel Dreys and the Beaver Scouts, I think I have more fun than the recruits haha.

Before we come to qualifications, I want you to know that I genuinely want to help. I have used self-hypnosis & cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy within my own life and it has made me a happier person, a better parent and less overwhelmed... and years ago, it also helped me process my Birth Trauma. I used hypnobirthing before working in the field and it was horrendous (definitely contributed to my BT!), now as an evidence-based practitioner, I realise that "hypnobirthing" is not clinical hypnosis. Neither is stage hypnosis for that matter!

P.S. For the record, I am not into 'new age' stuff either... don't get me started on "Past Life" regression :/ (Sorry!)

OK, so important stuff.

I am a fully qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and all of my training was undertaken at the prestigious Anglo-European College of Therapeutic Hypnosis with Adam Eason, one of only seven schools worldwide certified to teach certain courses. I also assist in the classroom at the college and highly recommend it to anyone considering training! As a member of the UK Hypnotherapy Council (UKHC) and the National Council of Hypnotherapists (NCH), I adhere to a stringent Code of Ethical Conduct. I hold full insurance to practice Clinical Hypnotherapy, as well as holding an enhanced DBS certificate for the paediatric application of hypnosis.

I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology, diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Hypnotherapy in Practice and NLP practice. I am also undertaking my Advanced Practitioner Diploma in Hypnotherapy (I am definitely a secret nerd!) and an MSc in Psychology at the University of Bournemouth (my first step towards Chartership with the British Psychological Society!). I have also completed a Child Psychology Diploma (CPD, Level 3) and a Counselling Skills course (Level 2). I am committed to life-long learning! As well as this, I regularly undertake training with the Scouts to allow me to work with neurodivergence in young people and I am first aid trained (in case anyone drowns in the therapy room obviously!).

I want you to know, it's normal to be nervous about starting therapy, we ALL have baggage, trust me. It's true! Do not believe what you see on Social Media! With no exceptions! The sooner we realise there is no "normal", the better. Honestly, it is a genuine privilege to get to be a part of your transformation and you guys teach me things all the time too! (Have I mentioned I love my job!?)

Hypnotherapy is often a last resort for people because of misconceptions about how it works. It is a collaborative effort and everyone is more than capable of having their own unique experience!

Quite often, I find people are amazed by the experience of Hypnotherapy, there is nothing magical about the process, yet something quite profound about the outcome.

Feel free to call or email me for a free initial phone consultation, I will always give you my honest opinion. I use evidence-based cognitive hypnotherapy and I believe that everyone should have access to learning these skills. If you are a low-income family please contact me and I will consider adding you to my waiting list for discounted or free therapy.

Although I really enjoy helping people in a wide range of areas, I feel particularly passionately about traumas, depression and anxiety.

You are not alone, please reach out if you need help.

So, that's a wrap!

Laura :)
