FAQ
Will I be able to remember it?
Yes, absolutely! We will be working together to make sure you fully understand everything and you can ask questions at any time. You will be able to remember everything from our session and receive an audio clip to play back at home if you would like. Hypnosis is a collaboration between you and I, it would be no good if you couldn't remember it afterwards!
Will you make me do something with which I am not comfortable?
Not at all! Stage Hypnosis is nothing like Hypnotherapy! All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and you will be in total control with heightened focus. There is nothing magical about this state, but it achieves rapid and long lasting positive changes. You are free to choose which suggestions you integrate with. No one can control your mind, except you.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Have you ever been so absorbed in a film or a book and the time has just flown by? Or been driving on the motorway and you reach your destination in the blink of an eye because you have been so deeply absorbed in thought? Then you have experienced hypnosis. It's a natural state of focus that we go in and out of every day, we are still aware of everything around us, our minds are just focused on something else.
Will it take just one session?
It really depends on you! One session may be all that's required, although research has shown that 4-6 sessions for more long term goals (such as weight loss) is highly beneficial. You may even decide to sign up for weekly coaching, the choice is yours. For things like smoking cessation or hypnobirthing, around 3 sessions are recommended, but this is charged as an over all package rather than individual sessions.
Can you get stuck in hypnosis?
Absolutely not! You are free to leave the state whenever you wish! Before we commence the session, you will be fully educated on how to access the hypnotic mindset and be able to leave it whenever you wish. Hypnosis is just increased internal focus, allowing you to become receptive and resourceful, which encourages neuroplasticity. This will help you make long term changes to achieve your goals.
Is it effective?
In short, yes. Hypnotherapy has been found to be highly efficacious for pain and weight reduction. It increases the effectiveness of CBT for mood disorders. It has been shown to be highly beneficial for a range of issues and disorders, such as IBS, Insomnia, Smoking Cessation and when used within Obstetrics and Surgery.
The effectiveness of the treatment is reliant on your therapists knowledge and your commitment.
Is there anyone who shouldn't have Hypnotherapy?
Yes. Hypnotherapy isn't recommended for children under the age of five. It is also not suitable for some conditions and disorders, such as those with psychosis, schizophrenia or epilepsy. You will be asked to complete a medical history form to make sure you are not contraindicated for hypnosis.
